My first Blog Award

Oh my goodness.  My first blog award was passed on to me from LIsa at My Lil' Bits.

Lisa describes it as "I believe the Liebster Blog award is a great way to share blogs that might not otherwise be seen or ones you want to share with others."  I appreciate that. Thanks so much!

The rules to this award are:
1. thank the giver on your blog
2. link back to the blogger who gave you the award
3. copy and paste the award on your blog
4. Give the award to 5 other blogs.
5. let them know you chose them by leaving them a comment

As I am still learning about the "Blog" planet, there have been some blogs that I've loved watching and being inspired by.  Thanks! I forward the Liebster Blog Award to:

Just Because Card~ Dragonfly

Hiya everyone!

So after walking outside with my friend I was inspired to do a bug card (not to mention the man was watching killer ants on TV...yuck).  So I made this cute card.  Again, I used the doodlecharm cartridge (at 3").  I also used the eye stamp from the Peachy Keen stamps I just got and the "...Just Because" stamp from the stamps I just got at Joanns this past weekend. I also used glitter paint on the ribbon, antennas and wings to make it pop.  I used fun pattern scissors on the border to give it an added touch, and used the pop dots to give it a 3D effect.

Hope you like it.  Enjoy! Thanks for stopping through.

PS - I ordered three embossing folders off of Joanns online.  Waiting to get them to try this rolling pin technique out. Ill keep you updated.

embossing minus the machine???

So Ive been looking around, and I love the embossing technique.  While having to save for my PE next year has tightened my budget, I was still looking for an affordable way to try it.  THEN, Ive been seeing lately old posts about embossing minus the Cuttlebug - using a rolling pin and water mister.

Has anyone done this?  Comments, suggestions?  I think I might just go buy a cuttlebug emboss folder and try it out.

Thanks for sharing with me.  Thanks for visiting.

OHHH and I love to see everyone's great hauls from this past month's sales.  It makes you think about new projects and ideas.  Hope you enjoyed mine.

Happy Tuesday - 3/22

Hey guys!

So Im so excited. I participated in my first blog hops this past weekend - and guess what.  I WON!  Lisa over at My Lil' Bits is a sweet heart.  I should be receiving the Peachy Keen Stamp Basic Paper Doll Faces soon - it'll be my first stamps from them and def not my last.  Cant wait.  Once they arrive, totally will do a project with them.   Thanks Lisa!

In the meantime, I made a "coffee" card for my BFF in cali to cheer her up - we used to drink coffee together all the time.  The theme was dark pink, purple, carmel and cream.  It was made using my friend's Beyond Birthday Cartridge at 3" and Opposites Attract Carrtidge at 1".  It was also the first time I used ribbon on a card.  Baby steps - but slowly expanding my horizons.

Hope you all like!  Enjoy!  Catch you soon!

Im So Lucky Blog Hop

Moving right along with getting involved.  Today I participated in my first Blog Hop.  The blog hop is hosted and starts at Honeybean Creations.  The theme was so positive and creative.  The idea was to hop from site to site visiting everyone's "blessings" project - projects that show what you are lucky and blessed to have.  Join the Hop....it's fun!

My first project was very dear to my heart.  I love my family, and I love the design and imagineering of Disney.  This inspired me to make a scrapbook page showing off both.  I have been blessed to experience the Disney World parks with my family so many times, and I thought a scrapbook page was a great way to express that. I embellished it with disney paper stock, Disney stickers and some fun "Disney-isc" letters.  (The pic on Test Track at Epcot was on my 19th Birthday! Great day! We were selected as Family for the Day and helped open the park.)

My second project was simple, short and sweet.  I approached it as blessings in regards to "Lady Luck".  When you were younger, what did you use to predict your future and luck?  A Magic 8 ball!  I created a the Magic 8 ball card using again my two cartridges (George Basic and Doodlecharm - stretching these two out as far as I can).  It was def. fun to make and kind of was nostalgic.

Hope you enjoy!  See you around blogger!

Remember leave "just a little bit of time" for the things you love and are blessed to have.

Fun Fold Card Challenge!

Yay! My first challenge!  I decided to participate in the Fun Fold Card Challenge and Cricut Cardz Challenge for a tall card.  Since I still only have the Doodlecharm Cart, Im having to make the most of it.  I created this fun card.  I was inspired by the warmer weather and was totally craving a cold dessert.
Here's how I made my delicious tall card :

  • I measured out my card base for 9"x4" (fits inside a standard #10 envelope....yay!)
  • I cut out two 8.25"x3.25" rectangles for my card front and inside background.
  • I used my fun Doodlecharm Cart to cut the base for the ice cream cone at 5".
  • I then used the shift command for the ice cream to make my chocolate, mint, strawberry ice cream and cherries at 5"
  • I then used a hole punch and cut "chocolate" circles in half to create my chips for the mint chocolate chip ice cream.
  • The George Basic Cart was used to make out my UMM (at this point Im totally craving ice cream...hehehe).
  • I glued all the items to my card stock and finished off the ice cream cone with some "sprinkles" (i.e. glitter glue).
  • End result - a card that will make your mouth water.

Thanks for visiting my blog!

(Saving up for new camera and some more cartridges is def. in the future.)

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

In honor of Dr. Seuss' Birthday and National Read Across America Day, an inspirational quote by the man himself:

"Today  you are YOU, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than YOU!” ~Dr. Seuss.

~Just a Little 'Bit of Time~

As my first blog, I'm a little nervous, but here we go!

As I hit my mid 20's (closer to 30 than I liked to admit), I realize the importance of family and friend time.  BUT there is also the importance of ME time.  I have found I've gotten away from the things I love - music, craft, theater/movies, culture.  Well, time to crank it up a notch!  I will post pictures of crafts my friends and I make together.  I will also comment/review any movies, shows or events my friends/family and I go to.  I can only hope that somewhere, somebody becomes inspired to do the same.

For all those who feel the same way - whether it be from stressful job or a loving family that occupies most of your down time- it's time to say "I need....'Just a Little 'Bit of Time'.....for me".

Enjoy!
